The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) approved a label amendment for Phantom® termiticide-insecticide in October. Previously approved for use on termites, ants, and cockroaches, the new Phantom label extends the product's use to control additional nuisance pests, stored product pests and occasional invaders that infest structures, including bedbugs. The label amendment also allows Phantom to be applied as a pre-construction termite treatment during all phases of construction up to and including installation of the final grade treatment.
The amended Phantom label now allows application to control beetles, including Asian Lady, Confused Flour, Darkling Larva (yellow mealworm) and Saw-tooth grain; bark scorpions; bed bugs; boxelder bugs; centipedes; European earwigs; house crickets; house flies; paper wasps; pillbugs; spiders including Black Widow and Cellar; and silverfish when used as a spot or crack-and-crevice treatment.
These pests are added to the General Pest control section of the Phantom label, which already lists control of ant species including Acrobat, Argentine, Carpenter, Odorous House, Pavement, Pharaoh and Pyramid, and cockroach species including American, Asian, Brown-banded, German, Oriental and Smokeybrown.
